Assam Medical College came into existence due to the philanthropic effort of Dr John Berry White.
In 1900 “Berry White Medical School” was started. Later under the Chairmanship of the first chief minister of Assam late Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi the upgradation of “Berry White Medical School” was initiated. ( By in Assam)
Hence in the year 1947, was born Assam Medical College & Hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam. This first Medical College & Hospital serving the needs and health of the patients of North- East India.
