Goa Medical College
Goa Medical College came into existence in the year 1963 in Panaji, Goa. The institution is the oldest medical college in Goa as well as in Asia. ( By in Goa)
The college is a government institution under the management of the Government of Goa. The medical institution is affiliated to Goa University.
Establishment – Bambolim is the head quarters of Goa Med. College & Hospital. The other hospitals forming the part of the establishment are located at Bambolim, St. Inez, Mandur and St. Cruz.
UG / PG Courses – Under-graduate course of MBBS and Post-graduate medical courses of different specializations in PG Diploma, MD, MS and MCh are available to the students of Goa for admissions. The degree, post-graduate degrees and the super-speciality post-graduate degree awarded by Goa University is recognized by Medical Council of India.
Goa Common Entrance Test – GCET is the common entrance test conducted by the government of Goa for selecting candidates for admission in Goa Med College into MBBS, MD, MS & MCh courses based on the ranks obtained in the competitive entrance examinations.

‘Escola Medico Cirurgica da Goa’ – The origin of the medical college goes back to the year 1842 under the Portugese rule, the medical college came into existence with the name and style of ‘Escola Medico Cirurgica da Goa’. The college was renamed as “Goa Med College” in 1963.
University Affiliation – As per these facts the medical college is the oldest medical institution in Asia. The medical college got its affiliation from Goa University in the year 1986. Prior to 1986 the college was affiliated to Bombay University.
